Shooting at Bubbles: A simple way to drive away your user base

I nearly quit Flickr when they forced a Yahoo login onto it -- they argued that making passwords harder to recover was a "feature." I had to quit using Upcoming when they forced a Yahoo login -- trying to use a personal and professional account was suddenly impossible.

When Yahoo decides to break del.icio.us, the streets of Nerdville will run red...

I'm sorry that no one was able to get back to you with a satisfactory answer. I'd be happy to look into this when I return from holidays next week. If you're interested in re-installing MyBlogLog on your site, please send me details (any that you remember) of your MyBlogLog account and the YahooID that you are trying to merge it with to me and I'll get things sorted out for you.

Thank you Ian - it is nice to see that at least you are still maintaining a real contact with MBL members. I'll get my details off to you once I get this tired old brain into gear today :)

Steven - Something must have happened when you merged your account. I looked up your account information and have reset it back to where things were before you merged it with your YahooID. Hopefully the second time through will not cause you any problems.

BTW, I contacted Jamie Lynn and she's really, really sorry for not getting back to you sooner. She also looks after Yahoo Mash and hopes that you'll give both products a second try.

Thanks for your help here Ian. I'll give it another shot this evening sometime and if everything works out I'll put the MBL widget back on the sidebar.

Jamie .. Hopefully this works out for MBL but Mash didn't do much to excite me :) so I doubt I'll end up there.

Just to update you Ian since you tried to fix me up. I went to the MBL signin page and when what I thought was my password was rejected I figured what the hell let's get MBL to send it to me the password.

So I entered my email address .. clicked Submit and got switched to the page to enter in the Reset code and waited for the email from MBL .. and waited ... and waited. Two hrs later still no email so I figured what the hell and tried the process over again.

    I'm still waiting :) ..............

Hey Steve. That sucks that you had so many problems logging into your account. That whole Yahoo merger thing really screwed up alot of people. In fact, there are still a number of MBL users that haven't proper merged their avatar over. Thats why so many MBL users now have a big grey smily face as an avatar.

Because I have a Flickr account and thus a Yahoo ID, the process was not that hard for me. I covered the merger here with directions on how to merge the account http://www.jeffro2pt0.com/mybloglog-in-meets-ya... maybe you'll have a change of heart but then again, maybe not.

I'd gladly go back to using it because I like MBL but Yahoo screwed the pooch on this one IMO. I'll have a look at your post (since you did such a good one for FeedDemon Link Blog :) ) - failing that I'll see what Ian can do after he gets back.
