I was just saying to Carla Thompson the other day that I think a lot of my outlook on life was colored by 1970s game shows; I grew up thinking Paul Lynde and Charles Nelson Reilly were the coolest people on earth. But that whole conversation just got to me. It's bad enough we are trying to swim upstream against the firehose, but to then claim that I'm somehow beholden to some hypothetical contract of expectations from my followers and should evaluate every move I make on a social network in light of that contract? Gimme a break!

Call me old fashioned, but back when I started computing online, it was with BBS's, and multi-tasking entailed starting a download and going out to mow the lawn.

"SheGeeks - Corvida has a good post today on what glory and riches college students think blogging is going to bring them. Sounds like a cold shower of reality for them is in store."

I think you missed the point of her post. She talks about why college kids don't blog not why they do.
