Anytime you get bored with Tech, take some time out and read a book. Reading a book seems to be much more refreshing to me than reading 600 RSS feeds with 6 million non-read entries. Also, Wired magazine is a great thing to read when you're bored. It's even better for staring at the info graphics those guys create.

it took ten years to figure this out?? amazing :-)

go to asia, make a comic book, start painting, whatever .... and blog about it! you are a writer first, the tech is just something to hang your hat on.

read some kevin kelly, develop some context, figure out the relationship between yoga and technology, sheesh, there is a ton of stuff to do, think, explore, and you dont have to stop writing..

maturing means letting go of one self-concept, identity, and taking on another .. go for it

Tech blogging is as boring as you want to make it; I think every genre has its black hole topics that never go away. The question is whether you want to engage in it, or find something that is personally interesting -- and hopefully interesting to others as well.

Sometimes, I think you and your readers like you more than you like yourself. I don't want to read any more about how much older you're feeling or how frustrated you're getting and all that dark stuff. You're a good guy, and if you're surrounding yourself with things that aren't making you happy, make a change. It's one thing to be a critic and another to be analytical, but you can drive yourself into a ditch where it's not very friendly.

I think I have a pretty good track record as well Louis of not following the cut 'n paste crowd or regurgitating the same ol' same ol' ... I was just expressing a feeling that is all.

I would argue that articles such as this one are just as commonplace as the cut and paste titles you have above? Is tech blogging boring? Sure, if you just regurgitate releases and do as you list above. But there is room for others who don't.

Please review my last 100 or 500 posts, and tell me how many of them meet your listed subjects' criteria.

I'm having fun. It's not boring.

Now that all depends on your definition of techblogging, or more so, who you're following. These "tech blogging topics" are what really turned me off of friend feed - it was just daily updates and back-and-forths. Nothing remarkable, nothing interesting.

Instead of saying "tech blogs are dead" maybe it's more "the tech bloggers I follow suck at blogging."
