I realize that the point here is about the changing nature of blogging and what will happen, I just think bloggers are going to continue to adopt and adapt to these newer forms of social media until something sticks -- and they'll continue to do both and continue to find ways to reach various reading publics.
Ahhh, and just as I write this, I take it back. I see you've managed to bring in pieces of FF here. I stand corrected on one point, but I'm still sticking to my guns on others.
AFAIC FF will forever mean firefox, using it as an abbreviation for friendfeed confused the crap out of me for a moment.
PS while not a grammar/spelling nazi I found that post really difficult to read - had to concentrate hard and tried 3 times, worth it in the end though.
Anyway, I thought this was an extremely thoughtful post. It gave me lots to think about.
what will come is this, just like you can walk into a coffee shop and join any conversation at any table, this will happen upon going to a single website ... mine, maybe, if i can just get teh software going...
I agree with your thesis. What I sense, especially among people have been actively blogging for awhile, is digital fatigue or perhaps digital distraction. My sense many of these people still post on a regular basis because it's a force of habit; not because they love doing it. And, as you point out, there are growing options available. Personally, I don't see my enthusiasm waning. If anyone, I'm more determined not to write what everyone else is writing simply because it's not as much fun.
