But why shouldn't independent group blogs or blog networks thrive by leveraging the same dynamics of a RWW or Venture Beat? Of course its hard to have a clear distinctive voice as a group because it requires more coordination than a solo blogger. I don't think biggest will always win...there is always opportunity for a small squad of bloggers working together to break through the noise. Look at you, @corvida, @louisgray... more cross-promotion could create a virtual Venture Beat or RWW from a group of solo bloggers.

Re: Why today’s solo bloggers may not see Scoble-like fame…

No Corvida I would want to be myself. Fame doesn't mean you have to "suck up" to anyone but it can mean that your words, thoughts and ideas can have an effect - can really make people think - can have an impact. It doesn't have to be "famewhoring" but it can be bringing people together to effect a change - to be a voice that is listened to.

Fame is a tricky beast and in many ways it gives the wrong connation to what I wanted to express but sometime the English language can fail us when we need it the most.

Re: Why today’s solo bloggers may not see Scoble-like fame…

Would you want to be Scoble? I sure wouldn't. All that constant famewhoring and being "on" all the time. Don't get me wrong; I love tech, but I don't live it and breathe it, and I certainly don't want to have to suck up to the Twitterati constantly.

Re: Why today’s solo bloggers may not see Scoble-like fame…

Much of the conversation is now taking place off of blogs at places like Twitter and FriendFeed. This makes it easier for new voices to build a following, it just isn't all concentrated on their blogs.

Re: Why today’s solo bloggers may not see Scoble-like fame…

ROFL I severely doubt anyone would want to hire a cranky old fart who can't spell worth a damn :)

Re: Why today’s solo bloggers may not see Scoble-like fame…

Totally agree - FF has introduced me to more new writers (at least new to me) than anything else lately.

As for somebody hiring me: I wouldn't be surprised if somebody hired Steven long before me :)

Re: Why today’s solo bloggers may not see Scoble-like fame…

I would definitely agree with you there Robert that is one reason why I referred to FF as a bloggers personal newswire service if used properly in another post

Re: Why today’s solo bloggers may not see Scoble-like fame…

FriendFeed is doing a lot more to get exposure to new people and new ideas than anything else I've seen out there.

Re: Why today’s solo bloggers may not see Scoble-like fame…

Contract negotiations taking up your time??

:)

Re: Why today’s solo bloggers may not see Scoble-like fame…

Just trying to do my part for the greater good of the blogosphere :)

Re: Why today’s solo bloggers may not see Scoble-like fame…

Louis who?
